What's the correct SmartphoneNotes version for my phone?
How do I synchronize my notes with Microsoft
Outlook? I don't have a "SmartphoneNotes" option in ActiveSync
/ Windows Mobile Devices Center.
1) Make sure you have the SmartphoneNotes synchronization plug-in
installed on your PC: you may have to install it, if you downloaded the
application directly on your phone. The synchronization plug-in is included in the full PC-based setup
program (download link: http://www.syncdata.it/download.html).
2) Make sure SmartphoneNotes synchronization is enabled:
- If you have ActiveSync: open ActiveSync, click "Tools", select
"Options…".
- If you have Windows Mobile Device Center for Windows Vista: open
Windows Mobile Device Center, click “Mobile Device Settings”, then
click “Change content sync settings".
- In the list of synchronized items for your PC, make sure
SmartphoneNotes is checked.
Synchronization is not working - I can't add a check mark to the SmartphoneNotes icon in
the ActiveSync / Windows Mobile Devices Center options window.
This issue is normally related to installation of a wrong SmartphoneNotes
synchronization plug-in version on the
phone. If you have SmartphoneNotes version 2.1 (2.1.1.0) or later, follow the
instructions below:
- Disconnect the Smartphone from PC
- On your Smartphone, run SmartphoneNotes
- In the notes list view, click the right soft-key "Menu" and select "Options"
- In the Options screen, click the right soft-key "Menu" again and
select "Synchronization setup".
- You may see a warning message stating that synchronization is already
set to the correct version. Click the left soft-key "Yes" to confirm
that you want to modify the settings.
- In the Synchronization setup screen, select the synchronization
plug-in version and click "Done".
- Connect your phone to PC. You may need to enable notes synchronization
in ActiveSync, as explained in the previous FAQ (step 2
- "Make sure SmartphoneNotes synchronization is enabled").
If you have an earlier SmartphoneNotes version, run the PC-based setup
program again, and select the correct version for your mobile
operator.
Attention Required or Resolve items...
message appears in ActiveSync / Windows Mobile Devices Center.
This problem is normally related to a problem on the desktop: a problem in
your Outlook installation, or a corrupted Outlook .pst file.
Possible workarounds are:
1) Register the Ole32.dll library on your desktop / notebook
PC.
- Click Start, click Run, type the following
command in the Open box, and then click OK:
Regsvr32.exe %Windir%\System32\Ole32.dll
- In the RegSvr32 dialog box, click OK.
2) To repair your Outlook installation, use the
"Detect and repair" (or "Office diagnostics", if you have Outlook 2007)
command under "Help" menu.
3) Run the scanpst.exe utility to fix Outlook .PST file problems (on an English Windows
version,
this utility is located here: C:\Program Files\Common
Files\System\MSMapi\1033\NT\scanpst.exe for Outlook
2000/2002-XP/2003; C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office12
for Outlook 2007). Another possibility is to create a new .PST file, and copy all items from your old .PST file to that new one. Read
the Microsoft article here for a step-by-step instruction ("Method 2"): http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=KB;EN-US;305544.
4) If you have a Windows Mobile 6 device and synchronize a Windows
Vista PC with Windows Mobile Devices Center, version 6.1, you must
install the latest SmartphoneNotes version 2.2 to get rid of the
"Attention required" error message.
How do I add a new line in a note on the phone?
To add a new line press the Action key (the one in the centre of the navigation pad).
Is it possible to synchronize multiple Outlook note folders?
No, this SmartphoneNotes version can synchronize the default notes folder only.
Is it possible to synchronize directly with an
Exchange server, without using a PC and Microsoft Outlook?
No, we only provide an ActiveSync plug-in to synchronize SmartphoneNotes
and Outlook notes via ActiveSync. Other synchronization types are not
supported.
I have correctly registered SmartphoneNotes, but I get an error
message. It looks like my code was not accepted.
The registration code must be used both in the device and in the desktop. Read the instructions page.
What's the correct SmartphoneNotes version for my
phone?
This applies to Windows Mobile Smartphone or Windows
Mobile Standard only. We have three different versions:
Standard
Mobile2Market phones version: works on Mobile2Market compatible Smartphones. This version works on most Smartphones.
Orange phones version: is designed to work on Orange Smartphones. Must not be used on
phones from other mobile operators.
Verizon Wireless phones version: is designed to work on Smartphones from the mobile
operator Verizon Wireless. Currently, this version is only required for
the Verizon Wireless Samsung SCH-i600 (which is NOT the BlackJack
Samsung SCH-i607!). Must not be used on other Smartphones, either from
Verizon or from other mobile operators.
In earlier versions of SmartphoneNotes, we used to ship an "Unlocked phones version"
- this version was not signed with a trusted digital certificate;
instead, it installed its own digital certificate on the device. Our new
policy is to stop releases of unsigned applications, therefore this
version is not available any longer.
Note that Windows Mobile Pocket PC, Windows Mobile
Classic and Professional editions do not need different versions: there
is only a single version of the SmartphoneNotes Pocket PC edition.
